Welcome to Town & Country Gardens, July

"A summer's sun is worth the having." - - French Proverb
July; -sunny, and hot, certainly here, in our (middle) part of North Carolina. Decks, and porches are great to enjoy this month, particularly in the morning, but as the temperature gauge on our S.W. facing deck goes to three digits around midday, the best one can do then, is to retreat, indoors (we do). Yet, all this heat, and Sun does wonders, to our veggie crop. Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, peppers, and herbs, do seem to love it, and they produce. Our WHAT'S COOKING? section, this month, comes up with a few ideas on preserving garden harvest, all of them tried, again, and again. June, was the month dedicated to Mint, and we still continue this theme through July's poetry selection. MINT BITE, is a contemporary poem by ATEF AYADI, that begs to slow down, and reflect on one's inner feelings, and the fascinating world around.
See July's To Do section, - it is still a good time to plant for Summer, and Fall garden.
If you haven't tried this yet, perhaps you'll get encouraged by our feature on Bottle Trees; easy to make, and add a little sparkle to your garden!
Check our Flora Now, section. Succulents, roses, and other great to enjoy this time of the year plants can all be found, and described in more detail, there.
Town & Country Gardens' got new follower!-WELCOME TO THE CLUB, ALISON!
I would also like to pass a message from NGAWANGCHODRON, our contributor. Some of you may have seen it, but if not, please, devote a few minutes to view a most fascinating movie by YANN ARTHUS-BERTRAND, pioneer photographer of aerial images of our beautiful planet. Stunning photography, and meaningful observations are compiled into his HOME movie, there. Free to watch, and free to reflect on the subject of our biggest garden, our planet Earth.
Till Next Month,
Town & Country Gardens
