Armand Clematis (Clematis armandii)
Other Names
Evergreen Clematis, Winter Clematis, Clematis 'Apple Blossom', Apple Blossom.
Origins - China.
Perennial (evergreen).
Hardiness (see References, below) - Zones 6 - 9, but will do best in zones 8 & 9.
Late Winter, Spring.
Approx. up to 20 ft (6 m).
Plant Spring, or Fall. Clematis likes full sun, but keep its roots shaded. It likes good, well drained soil. In growing seasons, fertilize regularly, to keep these pretty blooms coming, and staying over long period of time.
Pruning is not really required, but if you do want to do it, please remember, that this season's blooms will appear on previous season's growth, so be careful to avoid pruning any of the newest growth.
By cuttings (take these in Spring, and Summer) or by layering (do it in Winter).
Fragrant, and neat avalanche of bloom, to enjoy. Popular landscaping plant.
